AP 2D Art and Design Course

AP 2D Art and Design Course

AP 2D Art and Design will introduce students to creative practice, methodology, and visual communication in 2D mediums. Students will develop art and design skills by engaging in sustained investigations in response to a series of creative prompts. In doing so, students will create a portfolio of creative work that will showcase their unique interests and can be submitted for the College Board.

The successful completion of AP 2D Art and Design will allow students to effectively communicate critical thinking, process, and vision for creative projects, develop a collection of creative work driven by a sustained investigation for their portfolio, hone drawing and painting skills, effectively utilize image editing software for digital illustrations and image effects (e.g. Photoshop, Illustrator, and Procreate), communicate designs using technical drafting conventions, and effectively utilize CAD software for 2D drafting (e.g. Rhino).

Students learn and absorb material at their own, unique pace. In addition to general course lessons, our instructors provide customized support and direction to assist students in their creative explorations and to meet course learning objectives.

Students receive personal mentorship for AP portfolio development and academic planning for post-secondary studies. Instructors have a breadth of experience in professional practice and teaching at post-secondary and secondary school levels in art and design.

4 months of course instruction, 2 months of additional portfolio support if necessary for AP Assessment. $2,800 per course.
