Introductory Art and Design Camp is a week-long immersive course that introduces students to a variety of creative fields in art and design. Students will develop basic skills, and an understanding of process and methodology, which will serve as a foundation for further creative pursuits. In addition, students will receive mentorship to identify areas of strength and interest that can inform future academic planning.
Course Curriculum:
Introductory Art and Design Camp is organized according to daily themes which build skills and knowledge applicable to art and design fields.
Day 1: Drawing
Lessons/Activities: Sketching, Light and shadow, Perspective drawing
Day 2: Painting
Lessons/Activities: Artistic process and methodology, Color fundamentals, Painting
Day 3: Animation
Lessons/Activities: Gesture drawing, Narrative and sequence, Storyboarding
Day 4: Industrial Design
Lessons/Activities: Design process and methodology, Human-centered design, Orthographic views
Day 5: Architectural Design
Lessons/Activities: Creating space, Open question period regarding academic and professional pursuits
Learning Objectives:
The successful completion of will allow students to:
– Develop a basic understanding of drawing concepts such as line, composition, value and perspective
– Develop a basic understanding of creative process and methodology
– Have a greater sense of AP Drawing,AP 2D Art and Design Course, AP 3D Art and Design Course
– Have a greater sense of their personal interests that can help direct future academic and professional pursuits
