Adaptive Teaching Style For Maximize Performance

CanStar carefully and constantly monitors the progress of all students throughout the courses we provide.

Our well-qualified teachers use tests (called “standardized assessments”) and assignments, presentations, and exams (called “summative assessments”) to ensure that students develop their language skills and understanding of the language, its overall structure and content.

Our teachers regularly coach good habits to help students attain a deeper understanding of English and its proper usage.

We provide a regular monthly progress report that details every student’s study performance to parents and students.

ELL Level 3 Introduction - Extended Stage

The ELL3 level allows students who have completed ELL1 and ELL2 to reach an extended stage of English language learning. ELL3 helps all learners develop greater skills with sentences and content, build their vocabulary, and achieve greater fluency in spoken and written English.

There are four main aspects to this course:

Listening: teachers will focus on helping students understand more complex sentence structures and start to introduce idioms and some metaphorical language. One key goal of this curriculum is to ensure that students can listen to, understand and comprehend the regular, familiar language when spoken at a normal pace.

Speaking: Greater emphasis is placed on the introduction of additional and more varied vocabulary, including topical phrases, idioms and some metaphorical language, as well as slang. Teachers will help students with the correct pronunciation and explain any grammatical errors. Often students will be required to make short spoken presentations and participate in group discussions to speak more confidently in public.

Reading: reading is encouraged at every stage, but, in ELL3, students can try a variety of fiction or non-fiction, as well as read and gather information from the internet. As well as learning to comprehend more complex sentences, students will also develop their reasoning comprehension skills. Some reading activities will be related to personal experiences, and class discussions are encouraged.

Writing: It is important to be able to write in a well-planned organized manner, and teachers will work with students to help them write essays with central ideas, going into more detail in certain sections. More descriptive and less used vocabulary and metaphorical language will be explored, as will practicing with complex sentences, using suitable transitions and connections between paragraphs.

Course Content

While the first two levels (ELL1 and ELL2) spend time on basic vocabulary and simple sentence structures, ELL 3 begins to introduce idiomatic phrases and more complex sentence structures. Topics under discussion are more varied, and reading novels to explore more varied ideas is actively encouraged.
