AP Calculus BC

Students wishing to take this AP Calculus BC course need to have a good understanding of algebra, geometry, trigonometry and precalculus. They will:

• work with functions represented in graphical, numerical, and analytical ways;
• be able to use the derivative in terms of a rate of change and local linear approximation;
• understand definite integrals, in terms of Riemann sums as well as net accumulation of change;
• understand both parts of the Fundamental Theorem of Calculus;
• utilize technology to help solve problems, confirm conclusions to various equations and situations and understand how to interpret results to mathematical problems;
• work out the rationality of solutions, including signs, size, relative accuracy, and units of measurement;
